We have a dedicated team of Volunteers and are always on the lookout for others who are interested in helping support the growth of the work of the group.
The potential opportunities for volunteering with us could be quite varied as the group continues to develop.
We take all recruitment and volunteering very seriously. Applicants are interviewed, which is a two-way process to ensure that the person is suitable for the role and the role is what the Volunteer is looking for. We take up references and a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check where relevant. The process normally takes around 3 weeks to complete. Training is available for Volunteers including sessions run by the Stroke Association. We also hold Volunteer meetings to review progress, discuss plans and any issues arising.
We currently have the following vacancies:
We are looking for a Volunteer who has the skills to be able to identify, arrange and manage events. These may include outings, restaurant meals, fundraising events and stalls at health fayres and shopping centres. The ideal applicant will have had some experience in this area professionally or on a volunteer basis. If you would like to explore this role further, we would love to hear from you.
Business Link Volunteer
The group is looking to find one or two local businesses with which we could partner. The aim would be to help promote our work and raise funds to take the group forward. For example, one idea we have is to link up with a local restaurant to run occasional “Charity Evenings” with a percentage of profit going to the group.
If you feel that you have the necessary negotiating skills or contacts and can spare the time to get this venture up and running please get in touch to arrange a preliminary discussion.
Group Support Volunteer
We are always on the lookout for suitable candidates to join our fantastic team of Group Support Volunteers. This vital role involves helping to set up the venue, serving lunch and refreshments, washing up and clearing up at the end of the session and anything else that is needed! Our Volunteers are also encouraged to spend time talking to our Members and helping them during the activities. From time to time, there may also be an opportunity to run activities or give talks to the group. Volunteers are not required to give any form of personal care.
If you are able to commit on a regular basis to Volunteering between 12.00 noon and 4.00pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month please contact us for more information.
